Your hands are an intricate and telling part of your body that are capable of revealing a lot about who you are as a person.
They can even shed light on innate secrets about your personality, preferences, and most dominant traits, like whether or not you’re creative, destined for fame, or have a strong sense of responsibility or leadership.
So it should come as no surprise that your hands are great indicators of your preferences in love and relationships, too.
Even if you’re new to palmistry, you don’t need an in-depth understanding of palm reading to use this love compatibility test.
By simply looking at two of the most prominent palm lines on your hand, you’ll be able to understand what kind of partner you’re most compatible with — and why — so you can start looking for those personality traits in your soulmate.
There are two palm reading lines in particular that you should pay attention to when it comes to compatibility in love.
The Life Line
The first line of note is your life line, a curved line through the middle of your palm that wraps around the padded part of your palm close to your thumb, also known as the “Venus mount.”
Typically, this line juts out into the middle of the hand past the middle finger.
Contrary to popular belief, your life line isn’t an indicator of how long you’ll live — it reveals your vitality, stability, and surprisingly, your personality traits, such as how introverted or extroverted you are. The Venus mount on your hand represents your “giving energy” ability, meaning it can tell you how much or how little social input you can handle.
If your life line juts out past the middle of your palm, you’re likely to be more extroverted.
If you’re extroverted, you’ll have a larger Venus mount, which shows that you have much more people energy to give.
The closer it is to your thumb, the more likely you are to be introverted.
If your Venus mount is smaller, you probably require more time alone to recharge after spending time with others.
If your life line falls in the middle, this means you’re on the average side of the introversion-extroversion scale, which can be great since that means you’re flexible.
Think of “average” in this context as referring to having the best of both worlds. If your partner wants to go out, you’re fine with it, and if they’re more introverted, you also enjoy sitting at home with them binge-watching shows, too.
Based on your own degree of extroversion vs. introversion, you’ll be most compatible with a partner who’s similar to you in this aspect.
You two will mesh well in your activity choices and your needs — no worrying about going out too often or too little.
The Heart Line
The second line to pay attention to is your heart line, which is the uppermost major line on your palm. It runs under the little finger toward your middle or index finger.
This line is where you may be able to see one of five rare partner preference lines, detailed below.
The partner preference lines are little “branches” off of the heart, also called “love” lines, that indicates whether your best love compatibility match would have certain traits that are desirable to you. These traits are often a reflection of the way you view yourself, which means that if you feel you need more courage or to be more honest, you may subconsciously seek that out in a partner, too.
This doesn’t necessarily indicate that you’re actually lacking honesty or aren’t, say, a hard worker, but this may be something you feel you need to improve within yourself. It’s really just a reflection of how you view yourself.
Partner preference lines are somewhat rare. In my estimation, only about 10 percent of hands carry these little heart line tributaries, so if you have one of these lines and you’ve been accused of being “picky” with your partners in the past, it’s no surprise!
Here’s what your heart line reveals about what you should look for in a soulmate.
1. If you have a branch going to Mars…
If your partner preference line shoots off beneath your pointer finger, this means it originates from your “Mars” mount. This is actually the most common of the preference lines in people who have them.
If you’re seeking out a “Martian,” then you’re looking for someone who is courageous and honorable. With this in mind, it makes sense that this is the most sought after personality type!
Your best bet in matching with someone you’re going to be the most compatible with is to look for someone who is bold, and perhaps even athletic. You need someone who can keep pace with you and challenge you to get out of your comfort zone every once in a while.
No couch potato or timid partner will make you feel quite satisfied enough in a relationship.
2. If you have a branch going to Jupiter…
If you have a small branch originating from your heart line right below your index or “Jupiter” finger, then you’re most likely seeking out someone who is honest and direct. Passive aggressive people need not apply!
You will likely most appreciate a person who is independent and not clingy, and who has high standards that are comparable to your own. You want to be comfortable in the relationship and have your own space while still knowing that your partner isn’t going to take this as a sign of you being distant.
Someone who plays games and is passive may quickly get on your nerves, and once you’ve been lied to, you’re not likely to stick around for long.
3. If you have a branch going to Saturn…
If your partner preference line starts below your middle finger, then you’ll be most suited to be with a “Saturnalian.”
This is a person who is hard-working and organized. Whether you realize it or not, you may subconsciously believe that you are lacking stability in your life, and are seeking a person to balance this need.
A Saturn preference means you should seek out people who are supportive and present. Don’t accept flakiness, or you’ll soon get tired of it—and the person you’re dating.
4. If you have a branch going to Mercury…
If there is a branch from your heart line underneath your little finger, you have the rarest of the partner preference lines.
Mercurians are people who are smart, quick-witted, and great conversationalists. If your preference is for someone with these traits, you’re looking for someone who can stimulate your mind, make you laugh, and keep you on your toes.
Most likely, you’ll do best with someone who can match you in trading banter and challenge your thinking and beliefs in a positive way. Debates over wine on a Saturday night? Yes, please!
You’ll probably need to avoid dating someone who you feel isn’t your intellectual equal, as you will quickly grow bored with them and want someone witty to make you smile.
5. If you have a branch going to Apollo…
If the branch from your heart line extends beneath your ring finger, you’re looking for a true creative individual.
You’re looking for someone charismatic, artistic — in any form — and maybe just someone with a few fun quirks or unusual tendencies. You’ll be happiest with someone who really loves finding new and exciting ways of expressing themselves, whether it’s someone who loves to paint, play the guitar, or even make their own craft beer.
You’re best to avoid someone who isn’t interested in the creative details of life, as you’ll likely get frustrated. Non-creative people will likely bore you rather quickly, as you’re hoping for colorful life filled with wild sounds, colors, and sensations you’ve never experienced before; perhaps even someone whose favorite activities include trying new restaurants and visiting museums.
If you don’t happen to have a partner preference line branching from your heart line, you’re still in luck.
People without these lines can match well with a number of partners with a variety of different personality traits. The good news is that you’ll be able to choose your partner from a wider pool of potential mates with less chance of things not working out. Flexibility is your strong suit!
