Every relationship is a bit different, but this one might take the cake! Or well, the backpack. We’ll just say backpack cake. Preferably chocolate. And preferably with ice cream too.

We previously heard about a woman who plans to marry a tree, but now there is another woman making headlines for having a very special relationship with a backpack. Yes, this woman is dating a backpack. There really is someone out there for everyone.

They could even be in your closet right now. Or wherever it is that people keep their collection of backpacks. I had the same backpack all throughout high school and college. It was the longest relationship I’d ever had.

Is this where Dora The Explorer and Backpack are heading? I can’t imagine what production company will greenlight that sequel, but it seems everything is being redone these days anyway. Who could be the next big star for this new potential moneymaker?

Genevieve Blau has been chronicling herself going on dates with her pink Jansport backpack using the hashtag #JansportDate. If you’re going to date a backpack, at least go viral for it, and make some money out of it.

“Guys, my JanSport and I have been friends for 10 years now. We finally decided it was time to take things to the next level. It’s our first official date!!” Don’t you love to see a couple come out of the friendzone?

“Taking a stroll through the west village. It’s such a beautiful night and there’s a dude playing the cello on the sidewalk?? Things are getting pretty romantic pretty fast … #jansportdate” Blau writes on her Instagram.

The whole thing seemed to have started as a confidence booster for the young New Yorker.

Nothing like a Jansport backpack to do just that.

“I was going to a nice restaurant and I was wearing this backpack,” Blau said.

“And I was like, you know what? I’m going to choose to not feel bad about the fact that I’m wearing jeans and a T-shirt going to this fancy Italian restaurant and make this about something fun that I can do while I dine by myself.” And along the way, they fell in love. Tale as old as time.

Since then, they’ve been out on the town enjoying restaurants, events, and the park. So, really, it’s just a woman with a backpack hanging out.

That actually sounds pretty nice to us! Maybe we need to get a backpack … or a suitcase, or even a grocery bag from the local Target. Is that the next love story that inspires a generation? Me and the produce bag from my local Target?
