Not that we need a reminder that we’re in a brand new decade, but Venus sextile Uranus — with Venus in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus — occurring on January 15th will likely be just that. Everything can change in the blink of an eye, and even if we’re not ready or unwilling, it doesn’t mean we can protect ourselves from what we’re meant to experience.
In astrology, a sextile is when planets are within 60 degrees of one another, which creates a positive and beneficial energy that encourages growth. This is a transit that normally occurs twice a year — once in the earlier part and once in the middle.
Last year, we saw it twice, but for the first time in March, Uranus was newly into his new cycle of Taurus; for the summer, Uranus was retrograde, meaning this is one of the first Uranus-Venus aspects in which he’s settled into Taurus, as we come up on the first year and he’s newly direct.
This is when we get to see what Uranus in Taurus will shake up in our love horoscopes. Aike so much of the astrology so far in 2020, there’s sure to be fireworks.
The next time we will see these two planets cross paths in the sky in a sextile will be next summer, so this energy is one we should seize and make the most of, especially because it’s coming at the perfect time. Just like with other aspects that are occurring this week, it’s important to be aware of because astrology is building blocks. Other astrology, like the powerful transits we’re seeing, will greatly have an affect on whatever else occurs.
Beginning on January 11th, we saw our Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Cancer, Uranus turn direct, the most powerful stellium in Capricorn since the 1990s, the much-awaited Saturn-Pluto conjunction, Venus move into Pisces, and now this transit. Whew.
One of these events would likely have us looking for the aspirin and wanting to call out of work, but all of it happening at once is sending a clear message that to avoid change is to avoid life.
We can’t try to not partake in the challenging aspects of life — those that may cause discomfort or sadness, but still expect to be able to soak of the enjoyable ones. Both the joys and the suffering of life are intertwined because to suffer is a choice we make to have something be other than what it is. Whether it’s a relationship or even the transition of a loved one from this plane to the next.
We do suffer, but in time and with acceptance, we find that our pain is alleviated, our hearts heal, and we understand that we can’t change anything. Through acceptance we find grace, and the more grace we can harness in this life, the more we can really appreciate the wonderful beautiful moments that fill it.
For everyone, these five days or so between the 11th and 16th will challenge every zodiac sign. They will unearth feelings, truths, and push us to that edge so we have no choice but to jump.
It won’t be on the perfect timing or situation. We won’t necessarily feel ready, and we may still wonder or doubt ourselves. But the thing is, we’re only being asked to leave behind what no longer serves us, what we’ve outgrown, and what no longer is contributing to our growth or joy.
It’s not that we should brace ourselves for the Venus-Uranus sextile because we can’t go into life-changing moments rigid or fearful, but we should be aware with eyes open, ready to change direction, prepared to go with the flow and also flow over any obstacles that may lay in the way.
Venus is the planet that rules our love, our relationships, and our beliefs about love. In Pisces, she’s completely idealistic in the best possible way. Dreamy, surreal, mystical, spiritual, and believing there is one person who is meant for her more than any other. This is better than a fairy tale because it’s real.
Uranus is the planet of sudden change, shock and awe, and recently turned direct in Taurus, so we can expect big realizations and moments that may have us asking, “What was I thinking?” in terms of decisions we likely made in 2019. But that is a good thing, because it means that awareness can be the start of us changing whatever isn’t working or no longer feeling good, physically or emotionally.
All the astrology we’re seeing cluttered around this time is about life change, redirection, letting go, being yourself, honoring truth, and going after whatever pulls on your heart. It’s about not taking the easy way out and not caring any longer if others agree with your choices or not.
And this is just another piece of that journey to not only be who we truly are, but to allow ourselves to love who we do. Not letting the should’s or could’s stop us from living the truth of our heart and who it beats for.
Venus and Uranus aren’t just about change — these planets are about finding the kind of love that is authentic for us.
This means that we may balk at traditions, family dynamics, types of commitment, and instead find the confidence and creativity to design our love life and relationships according to our own needs. Together, this planetary alignment is about us being able to let our love be as unique as we are. Not caring what others think about our choice of partner or life path, but allowing ourselves to be happy, regardless of what type of commitment or arrangement we have, instead just focusing on the love.
2020 is a year of change and rearranging. This is a brand-new decade, and the astrology is there to back it up.
Don’t expect things to remain the same and, if you do, don’t expect it to be a smooth ride. This is a year that is meant to take us from our comfort zones into adventure, and maybe we’ll end up where we were always meant to.
