Falling in love, having a crush, or even flirting can be extremely nerve-wracking sometimes. When you put your feelings on the line, you’re being vulnerable.
Vulnerability makes you feel emotionally exposed because you’re bearing your soul to someone with the hope that they feel the same, knowing they might not. Rejection is always in the back of your mind.
Sometimes in an attempt to prevent rejection, we disregard our need for affection and connection. We fool ourselves into believing that it’s better to remain closed off to prevent heartbreak, as opposed to letting others in. We make this trade-off without realizing that without being vulnerable, we’re robbing ourselves of the ability to build connections with people.
Despite what some zodiac signs in astrology believe, we are all worthy of connection. And to enjoy the rewards of genuine connection, we must endure the discomfort of vulnerability.
We all want to feel loved and valued, which is a natural desire. There’s nothing wrong with that, as long as we love and value ourselves first.
But we also have to remember that not all relationships aren’t meant to last forever. No matter how hard a breakup is, it shouldn’t be the reason you swear off dating. Just because this relationship ended, that doesn’t mean there isn’t something better in the future.
Don’t allow a breakup to keep you from allowing yourself to fall in love again. The end of one relationship is simply a new beginning.
Even though we know breakups and rejections aren’t the end of the world, they certainly have a way of feeling as such. They make it harder to be open about your feelings with your next romantic interest because of fear.
Expressing your feelings is hard, especially certain zodiac signs. Reasons for being emotionally unavailable can range from lack of trust to past traumas. Whatever the reason may be, anyone can overcome it and have the love life you desire.
So, which zodiac signs hide their need for affection and connection, and how can they learn to be more vulnerable?
1. AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)
Aquarius tend to come off as distant and emotionally unavailable, but they have feelings like everyone else. They are just really good at masking their emotions by using logic instead. Unlike emotions, you can always pinpoint why something happened using logic.
Aquarians are afraid of getting hurt, so they rationalize by limiting how vulnerable they are, not realizing that this affects their ability to connect with others.
For Aquarius to be able to open up, they have to forget the risks involved with being vulnerable and just do it. Vulnerability is worth the risk. But they should use logic to decide who they should and shouldn’t be open with.
2. ARIES (March 21 – April 19)
Aries hide their emotions in order to keep up their leader persona. Some view vulnerability as a weakness, but Aries doesn’t understand that vulnerability is a form of power that allows them emotional freedom.
Aries want to seem like they have everything under control. Unfortunately, we don’t control emotions, they just happen.
For an Aries to be able to be vulnerable, they need to be able to let go of control. They have to realize that they can only control how they cope with their emotions and who they share them with.
3. GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)
Geminis always want to keep things fun and sociable. When they feel negative emotions, they tend not to share. Geminis want to keep their charm in tact, so they keep their emotions to themselves in order to keep the atmosphere positive.
For a Gemini to open up, they need a private environment with someone they trust. It’s really important that they choose someone who is not judgmental and willing to listen. It takes a lot of courage from Gemini to be vulnerable, because they’re putting themselves first as opposed to others.
4. VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)
Virgos are very organized and detailed-oriented people. They are extremely focused on their careers and other commitments. Since time is of the essense for Virgo, they do not spend time evaluating their emotions or being vulnerable; they just keep checking tasks off their list, forgetting to check on their emotional wellbeing.
For Virgo to be able to connect with others, they have to find time to build relationships with people. They have to reorganize their lives in a way that allows them to have a social life.
Once they have a social life, they can start being vulnerable with those they deem worthy in their friend group. Virgo also has to get out of the mindset that they need to be professional all the time, and realize it’s okay to discuss personal things.
5. LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)
Being vulnerable is challenging for a Libra. They lack trust and are uncertain of who they should open up to because of their indecision.
Libras never want to cause conflict, and because of that, they’ll compromise how they feel to maintain an elution of balance. Libras never want to be viewed as a problem, so they hide their feelings, not realizing they’re doing more harm than good.
For Libra to be able to begin to open up, the other person has to start first or open up shortly after a Libra has. Libras are all about balance, so if they open up, they want you to do the same. This is how trust is built with them. Libras reason that since both of you are being vulnerable, it’s a safe environment for them to truly be themselves.
6. SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)
Scorpios are secretive and sensitive by nature. They build an emotional barrier between themselves and the rest of the world to prevent themselves from having to open up out of fear. Scorpios are scared that if they reveal their true emotions, they will be hurt, misunderstood, or ridiculed.
Vulnerability is something Scorpios have to consistently work on because it does not come easily to them. They have to accept that in order to create the connections they desire, they have to open up. There is no shortcut to genuine connection; it takes allowing the other person to know who you are and giving them the choice to accept you or to leave.
